n. (1722) Bot. Var. ad(s)uki, azuki + l [E < J azuki アズキ red bean, but written with unrelated Chinese characters 小豆 meaning ‘small bean’ – cf. Ainu antuki (+ redundant E bean)] An annual, edible red bean widely grown in Japan and China, from which flour is made; this bushy plant (Vigna angularis).
